Forged vs. Cast golf club ?
What are the main differences between these two?
Cost-
Forged are typically more expensive than cast.
"Feel"
Forged are much much softer than cast and provide more feedback to a golfers' hands.
Consistency
Forged are generally carved from a solid block of metal, cast heads are poured into a mold which when cooled, tend to develop hot spots, or crystalline structures that lead to inconsistent performance across the club face.
Workability
Most forged "players" clubs are set up and manufactured as neutral- no bias as to center of gravity, offset, or weighting, allowing for a skilled player to work the ball off of a forged club (left, right, high, low)
The cast clubs are typically built with one shot shape engineered into the design, it is very helpful if you want a high straight trajectory (think mortar round), but very difficult to change the shape of that shot when the situation calls for it.
