Forged Irons

Some info on forged irons please.?
I have read around about forged blades and the only thing I see about them is that they give you more feedback to your hands about the quality of contact. Ball striking is the strongest part of my game. What differences would I see if I bought a set of forged irons or forged blades? I am currently using nike ignite irons. Also, what is the difference between regular forged irons and forged blades?
lanemreynolds, are u crazy? don't listen to him. Me and actually quite a few of my friends play Nike irons on our team and they are quality clubs. and Tiger does use nike drivers and balls it is just that he uses Miura irons. But for your problem, if you really believe that you are an excellent ball striker with control of your ball flight, the new nike blades would be a reasonable selection. If you are not quite up to that level, i would recommend the Titleist M-blend irons, that are consisted of blades for the short clubs, muscle backs for the mid irons, and normal cavity backs for the long irons. This allows the player to have lots of control with scoring clubs, and consistency with the longer. Basically this is there is three club types:
1. Cavity Back: The cavity back on an iron generally allows for less miss hit shots than with a blade head. The theory being that if the metal behind the striking part of the face is thinner, less side spin is put on to the ball helping to produce a better shot.
2. Blade:With neither a thick top line nor wide sole, producing a more penetrating ball flight the solid back design allows the accomplished player the opportunity to shape the shot, imparting more spin from its smaller sweet spot.
3. Muscle Back:Muscle Back Irons are a combination of the theories from a cavity back and blade put into one club. Essentially having an iron with a rather thin head with approximately 1/3 the original cavity depth of the normal cavity backs. Provides More consistency than a blade, but a little less playability.
In summary, if you are an excellent golfer with a great iron game- blades might be the iron for u. If you are pretty confident with your irons, but still want some forgiveness, muscle backs are the way to go. If you don't really care much about your draw/fade/low cut/high hook playability options and just want a club you can make good contact with everytime, cavity backs are the way to go.
