How much are the clubs in a top pro's bag worth? What about the rich guy at the local private club?
I'm not a golfer and the reason I'm asking is because I saw a sign the other day at a golf store advertising a Calloway driver for "only" $250 (cdn). Yikes!! I had no idea.
Depending on whether the clubs are purchased through the pro shop or sporting goods store, prices will vary. One misconception is a person who belongs to a private country club is rich. Most of us have worked hard to provide for the family, work for a decent house, get the kids through college and it is time to enjoy the fruits of our labor. So spending $ 1,000 for a set of irons and almost as much for a set of woods which will last 10 to 15 years . That comes out to be about $200 per year. The greens fees or the membership are the real costs.
