What Accessories Should I Get To Go With The Nintendo Wii I’m Giving As A Gift?

with 6 comments

I'm buying my partner a Nintendo Wii for Christmas but there's so many accessories available to go with it that I'm not sure which I need and which are optional. Eg, do I need 2 remotes and 2 nunchucks? Do I need the remote chargers? Do I need the sports pack (golf club, tennis racket etc)

I'm very confused so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

You should really get the starter bundle that walmart has on sale for 50.00 off. It has everything that is needed for 2 players to play.

  1. you should really only get the remote charger, it is really useful because batteries die really quick on wii remotes. Anything else would be unnecessary

  3. I would just get the 2nd wii remote and a game to go with the system.

There are very few games that 2 players play that require 2 nunchucks. Boxing is the only game I can ghink of. Chargers are good and relatively inexpensive compared to buying a lot of batteries, but I use rechargeable batteries because I can use them in anything.

The sports pack is just cheap plastic crap from china that you put your wii remote inside of. No buttons or anything on it, just a plastic casing for the remote. Most of the ‘accessories’ for sale are similar junk. All I have is the 2nd wii remote and a bunch of games and it’s great.

  4. you don’t NEED anything else (i think that’s what you’re asking?)

the Wii should come with Wii Sports which can be mostly played with one Wiimote/nunchuck that gets passed around. if you get a game with more than one person playing at the same time, you’ll need a Wiimote (and possibly nunchuck) for each player. each game will say how many players & controllers on the back of the box. =)

the Wiimotes take 2 AA batteries. you don’t NEED a charger; they’re nice, but you could also use rechargeable AAs.

the sports pack with racket, club, etc, is cheap plastic junk, and can be safely ignored.

in summation, you can open the Wii box and have everything you need to set it up and start playing
