Where does the Indian Navy Marine commandos rank if compared with other Special Forces?
I have heard a lot about the SAS along with the Australian SAS and Seals, or the GROM, but do the Indian MARCOS stand any chance against them?
Yes, have you heard the saying: "First among equals"? it refers to the British SAS being the first but not the best, but rather equal.
The SAS doctrine of tactics is used by almost every SF unit in the world so they will usually preform as well as each other. Unfortunately the MARCOS has not had as much "hands-on" experience as the other units listed above but their training attrition rate is usually no less than 90% which is much higher than the SEALs and SAS meaning many more drop out even after the selection phase.
I'm not sure how well they are funded, but at the end of the day when each unit is as good as the other, funding (or the element of surprise) usually makes a huge difference (e.g longest range weapons, best body armour, most high-tech night vision etc).
Lets hope we never have to find out who is the best (because we are all allies) and don't want to go to war with each other.
